1955 A decree of the Presidium of the National Assembly launches the project, designed as a wider push to sell the Bulgarian Black Sea coast internationally.
1957 Construction begins in Atliman bay.
1959 The first tent camp for schoolchildren opens.
1972 The summer theatre, Kino Kosmos, is built in the forest above the bay. Over 3,500 seats. Polish-made projectors spinning 70mm widescreen film, among the most modern of their day.
1990s The cultural programme dies with the regime. Last screenings around the mid-90s.
2001 Albena AD buys the MMC. The theatre is left unmaintained and has stood derelict ever since.
2010 Students from Plovdiv University drafted a restoration proposal. Nothing came of it.
